NQUTHU CONFERENCE CENTRE

NQUTHU, KWA-ZULU NATAL

Newly proposed boutique hotel and conference centre. The design’s focus was on an outdoor and vernacular architecture feel. The centre consist of a conference area and chalets. The architecture for the centre is such that compliments vernacular architecture, where the metal sheeting is over layered by thatch and pin striped slices of the metal sheeting are exposed to give it a change in materiality.

The chalets are self-sustainable with a kitchenette and toilet facilities. This makes the internal spaces free from dust caused by a thatched roof. The centre has a designated area for recreation, this space is equipped with an outside seating area and a swimming pool in between the main buildings and the chalets.
